Reporting in to say that Vika and I went along to this with a friend. It was all fairly mainstream stuff, as expected - there were a lot of questions on Monopoly. It was pretty good fun, especially the round on board games and popular culture - not only was I rewarded for knowing about the dreadful film Battleship, but who knew that there was a Vanilla Ice electronic rap game? We came second, for which we won the "prize" of a copy of Ludo and Snakes & Ladders. The exhibition seems worth checking out too. We had a brief look round in the break, and while there's only 20-30 minutes' worth of content there, I did learn quite a few new things. I particularly liked the educational games from the 1700s, which aimed to trick children into accidentally learning things. The Game of Astronomy is my pick of the bunch; any game where the goal is to be the first to reach Flamstead House is a game I can get behind. Apparently from the 1800s onwards board games switched to having "an emphasis on fun", which must have been disappointing for everybody. (Also, insert joke about Stefan Feld here). Anyway, it's free to go, so you can't go too far wrong if you're in the area of Bethnal Green and have a bit of spare time.
