About London on Board
London on Board is a board game club that meets a couple of times a week in central London to play board and card games.
We're a mixed bag of game players. Some of us have been playing board games for aaaaaages, some of us have only just begun to discover the wealth of board games out there. Some of us prefer Euros, others are more interested in the American style, dripping with theme board games. Some of us like abstracts. Some of us just like everything. All of us like to play games and just having a good time. We live all over London have been gathering players from all over Europe and beyond!
New To Board Games?
New players are always welcome at London on Board. Simply pick a meetup time from the upcoming events below, RSVP via meetup.com (which is free to join), and turn up.
There's generally a table with a pile of board games on it, such as the one in the picture on the right.
Either lurk by the table, which is where people meet while they're forming groups and deciding what to play,
or catch someone's attention and mention that it's your first time.
Don't worry if you don't know how to place the games on show - someone will always explain the rules!
Games played at London on Board
We play just about anything from The Settlers of Catan and Carcassonne through to the latest releases. Below are a few games played at a recent event:
Upcoming events
For full event details and to RSVP visit our meetup group.
Every week, London-on-Board hits The Old Star pub in Westminster for a few pints, some good pub grub, and of course, lots and lots of board games.
We're immediately across the road from St. James' Park tube station, so it really can't get more convenient, and we're normally there for 9 solid hours of gaming goodness!!!
Newbies especially welcome and if you get there at 11:00 a.m. prompt, you're most likely to not have to wait around to hop into a game straight-away.
Dirk Henn night (Monday night gaming)
Thought it would be nice to try another designer night, this time with one of my favourites, the loveable Dirk.
He's responsible for two of my favourite tile games (Alhambra and Cable Car) so I'll probably bring one of those, but of course you can play anything you like.
If you are new to London on Board check out this guide for new players. If you have any questions on the night or are having trouble getting into a game, then look out for the night's host, listed to the right.
If you plan on attending please RSVP. We only have 50 chairs and it gets uncomfortable for everyone if more people than that turn up. Similarly, please change your RSVP to no if it turns out you can't make it.

I thought I would try start an alphabetic series of games, to see which letter has the best games! So tonight, bring all your games starting with the letter A!
Alien Frontiers, Alhambra, Assyria, Agricola, Age of Empires, Age of Steam, Amun-re, Automobile etc

It's your chance to give your sport themed games an airing. Blood Bowl, Formula D, or something more exotic! I may dust off my old deck of Airchair Cricket..... anyone fancy a Test Match?

Comments about LoB
Friendly, welcoming, international, board game heaven...
It's a very friendly group that plays a wide variety of games, from the strategic to the silly.
Very friendly. Well organised. Busy. Entertaining. Focused and helpful. This meetup group is all about what it says: board not bored!
I'm reminded of a number plate I just saw which read K9 NAD. Nuff said.
Very nice.
