So, Shut Up & sit Down recently released a video of them attending an event held by 'Megagame makers', available here: http://vimeo.com/9620... Essentially, it's an all day event set around one of a number of differing scenarios. And from watching the video, it looks fantastic. The remainder of their 2014 events are already full up, but the first event available in the 2015 calendar is Watch the Skies 2, the same game as in the video, except with everything different. Since so much of the game is built around the interaction, obviously that will be completely different, and the intentions of the aliens will be equally different as well. http://www.megagame-m... The events seem to fill up quickly, and I figured you lot would be the best people to ask if you want to come, being used to the board gaming already. So would anyone fancy getting a team together? Seems to be 4-5 people per country. Normally the day costs £30, but if you pay in advance it's £25, and it's half price if it's your first session - Making it £12.50 for newbies, with the money covering the cost of the hall, all the counters and equipment and lots and lots of paperwork required for the game. So, anyone interested? Or even further, anyone been to one of these events before?

I couldn't see the dates - but consider me interested.

http://www.megagame-m... That lists all the upcoming dates. The first 2015 date, which is also the one playing Watch the Skies, is Saturday 21st March. And while that is a long time away, their October and November sessions this year are already fully booked, so the spaces go fast, and I imagine they will go even faster given the SU&SD publicity they will be receiving.

Very belatedly - lets get this together.

oOO Interested and...... If you click this link to their 'would you be happy to be a guinea pig to help play test a future game they seems to be more options: http://www.megagame-m... Including one on 21st July (two weeks on Monday evening 7-10pm) Might be worth trying to get a few people/team to that?

Ooh, didn't see the playtesting options there. I would be interested in going to one of those with a group of LoBsters as well, and would be able to do pretty much any dates except the 21st and 22nd of July, which is pretty typical! :(

Same here, but this might be something which would be a lot of fun. Given my tendency to nuke other countries in games, I might become very unpopular with the world lol. Just need to think about it a little more.Huhhh... did not expect to watch the whole video.

Well I could make the mini event on the 21st, anyone else considering it? -I'll get on email and see if I can dig out some more info

Ok after some slackness from me sending the email I have some more info on their tryout/playtest games. The one next week is in Streatham, and they do plan on holding a few more in coming months (also in Streatham) so no *desperate* need to do a mad scramble and get a team together by Monday (and maybe we can target a date Will can make after all). Either way I've signed up to their mailing list so should get a note appearing when the next tryout session is on.

Cool, apparently I'm an Orc Warboss this Monday with a savage hoard of greenskin raiders set to repel some foolish human king who has decided sending his army into a dungeon is a great idea. (further signups still possible apparently)

Was it a lot of fun? I was considering it, but I'm glad I never went as am busy with drawing things. Maybe the next one.

I'll have to admit that it wasn't as I'd expected. Given that it was just a tryout, it mainly existed to refine the mechanics rather than exist as a full day long game, but it was pretty good fun. Rather than the game shown in the video, this was a kind of two sides split into factions. The overlanders made up of various lords, and so on, and the underlanders which were orcs, dwarfs and so on. More role playing based, with direct unit to unit combat. Lots of different maps for the units to be on which linked to each other, you could only be at the table your unit was on, to communicate with your applies you had to pass notes to the GMs who would deliver them eventually, generally. In short, I'm definitely looking forward to the chance to go to a full game, though I'll certainly be picking my theme. There's a heavily RP based French revolution wars one coming up in May, then Watch the Skies 3 on 11th July. I'd certainly like to give Watch the Skies 3 a go. Assuming it's the same as that first one, counties are teams of 4, so if we can get a team to run a country on there, that would be good fun.

Streatham is one stop away from me, so to call that convenient is an understatement! For sure next time there is a playtest session I'll gladly come to experience it!

So there is another game up on their tryouts link Monday 1st December 7pm - 10pm South London "" Dungeons of Yendor Monday 1 December 2014 7- 10 pm South London Is this just another bug-hunt? A new take on the classic dungeon crawl, the King of Yendor sends his entire Army to clean out a troublesome dungeon. "" Shall we all sign up for that one?

OK, we've been talking about this for a while and never seem to get anywhere. Shall we do this? And - to actually get this moving - shall we move it to email? Jason, do you want to coordinate this?

I didn't send anything out but tbh I'm not sure it actually needs it -> Just needs people to: 1-> Go to the megagames website linked earlier and send £10 off to the paypal link 2-> Drop an email to the address on the website (info@megagames.org.uk) confirming you've just sent them £10 and that you'll be coming to the December 1st tryout event 3-> Turn up on Dec 1st (having received the address details by email following step #2) On which note: I've just sent them £10 and an email so will be going Dec 1st regardless, if anyone else fancies signing up and joining me there that'd be grand! (and if you do maybe mention in your email that you'll be coming with Jason they might put us on the same team if they are doing teams -> not really sure what to expect! but I did mentioned in my email others from the regular crowd I play boardgames with 'may' also be signing up over the next few days) There, all sorted :) -JDid any emails go out on this?
