The Inside the Box Game Jam Tickets: https://www.eventbrit... Time/Date: 12:00-22:00, Saturday 28th January Location: ITB HQ, Unit 5, 32-38 Osborn St, E1 6TD What is a Game Jam? It's the best. In a Game Jam you gather a team of like-minded tabletop enthusiasts, collect together your finest Sharpies and scraps of paper and attempt to create the best possible tabletop game in a short amount of time. You'll be provided with all the resources you need, and will be given a series of constraints in which to create your new box o' fun. At the end of the 'Jam you'll present your ideas to a panel of judges and compete to win snazzy prizes, and the chance of getting your game published! How it Works Never been to a Game Jam before? No worries! We've got you covered. Read below for details about how you'll be jammin'. Teams You can either form your own teams and sign up as a #squad, or you can turn up on your own and join an existing team or form a One-Direction style rag tag band of game designing jammers for one night only. Either way, you'll form a team who you'll spend the duration of the Jam working with on you idea. Once we've got past the first few bits of the event, you won't be able to change teams, so choose your comrades wisely! The Rules Each participant will be provided with credits to spend in the component 'JamStore'. You'll have limited credits, so it'll be a challenge! Every team will also have to ensure their idea fits within the overall theme of the Jam, which will be announced at the event itself. It could be everything has to be made from squares, or nothing blue, or #nozombies or you might have to make a game on the topic of 'object permanance'. Each team will be provided with a table to work on, as well as a few communal idea-generating-bubble areas with crayons and playdoh. The Presentation There will be a big countdown to the end of the event, at which point you won't be able to make any more revisions to your design. There'll be a break with some fun & food and then there'll be a round-robin style playtest session, where each team will rate other games! Each team will then present their game to a panel of industry judges, who will rate your game on a series of pre-set criteria; think Olympic Diving. The Prizes The top few teams will receive a series of fantastic tabletop prizes, and the winning team will get their game fully illustrated and design, and printed! There's also the chance of a publishing contract with ITB. The stakes are high.
